OS X Lion – Terminal Colours
Having recently I upgraded my Mac to OS X Lion the first thing I noticed was my terminal’s color theme was no longer working properly! Prior to upgrading I was using a combination of Visor (now replaced by TotalTerminal), SIMBL, and TerminalColors along with the IR_Black theme posted by Todd Werth as detailed in his blog entry A black OS X Leopard Terminal theme that is actually readable. As the method to solve my problem took a bit of searching and trial and error I am posting the process I went through in hopes of helping others whom may stumble upon this post.

i>clicker Security Analysis
As previously mentioned this past semester during my studies at the University of British Columbia I conducted a security analysis of the i>clicker audience response system. As shown in previous posts we were able to develop a working exploit which would allows us to randomly generate clicker IDs on the fly.
As part of the analysis we prepared a powerpoint presentation with our findings. I have created a rough video recap of this presentation narrated by myself.
You can find it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMqTUmcPlsU .

i>clicker Hacking – Video 1
Checkout the following video for the first installment in a series of videos (I am in the process of creating) detailing the process and results of my i>clicker security analysis (conducted as part of a group project in my UBC – EECE 412 class).
Due to it being final exams season, a more detailed writeup of the process and my findings will be postponed until later this month (though I must point out I do not intend to release a step by step how-to guide, for obvious reasons). Be sure to check back!
i>clicker Hacking
As part of my coursework in EECE 412 – Introduction to Computer Security at UBC, I recently completed a project analyzing the i>clicker audience response system. Checkout the following video for a brief introduction about the project.
More info to come soon about how it works.
chmod -x chmod
You’re in a Data Center with absolutely no contact to the outside world. There’s a machine you must not reboot that someone had the brilliant idea of executing “chmod -x chmod” upon. What do you do? Check out this presentation by José Castro:

Why are people so stubborn about Vim?
Alex Resiner over at Lambda Calculator has recently written a great article titled Vim Heresy. If you have ever tried diving headfirst into the world of Vim, using it as your main text editor, and found yourself struggling to stay afloat – Alex’s article brings to light a wonderful viewpoint on why that just may be.
(Telus) HTC Desire Custom ROM Guide
I recently took a step into the world of Android smartphones by purchasing the HTC Desire on Telus (saying farewell to all the BBM contacts living on my 1st Gen Storm). After attempting to root / flash a custom ROM to my phone I ran into a number of pitfalls. Posting about my trials and tribulations of the whole process seemed like a good topic for my first real post. Hopefully someone can benefit from my efforts.
